Once a closing date is mutually agreed by Purchaser and Seller, a call to the utility companies by both parties a few days ahead is a must to avoid any interruption in service. Do NOT request a "SHUT OFF", instead request a "CHANGE" in the name of the new resident.
If MichCon is the natural gas carrier in your area, be advised that all new customers are required to make an application, Consumers Power Company and the Detroit Edison Company will handle transfers by phone.

| KEYS |
If keys aren't exchanged at closing, upon vacating the property, the Seller(s) may either surrender the keys to their Broker's office or exchange the keys with the Purchaser's themselves. In the event that the keys are returned to the listing Broker's Office, the listing Broker will notify either the selling agent or the Purchaser. If the keys are exchanged directly between the Seller(s) and Purchaser(s), the Use and Occupancy Agreement must be signed and returned to the listing Broker's office, so that the funds may be disbursed.

It is the Purchaser's responsibility to inform the municipality of a change in ownership, in the form of filing a Property Transfer Affidavit and apply for the Homestead Exemption Tax, if applicable. You may be asked to bring a copy of the Warranty Deed to the Treasurer's Office, so call before you go. |

You may want to change the address on your driver's license by visiting the Secretary of State's Office and, at the same time, obtain a new Voter's Registration Card.
